‘A Celebration of Japanese Artisanal Techniques 2018’ was held at Tokyo International Forum.

In this event, you could experience various Japanese craftsmanship techniques. Every year, many people have came, irrespective of age or sex. Also, there were interpreter volunteers inside the hall, so foreigners also could relax and enjoy it.
In this year, I tried 3 experiences.
· Inkstone polish
· Strap sewing
· Tortoiseshell accessory making
By the way, 2years ago I tried below.
· Cloisonne
· Imari-yaki(porcelain)
· Raden(using small shell to decorate)
Japanese cuisine which is a world heritage is also a Japanese traditional crafts, of course. The most Japanese traditional crafts is beautiful, delicate, and cute. What has been making the cute stuff?
It is effort of craftsmen. They have burn or cut own hands in accidents some times. The techniques have gained by doing so.
In October, a craftsman’s event will be held in Shinjuku, too. It is also possible to experience about craftsmanship, although it is a small scale.

このイベントでは、日本の様々な職人技を見学・体験できます。
毎年、老若男女、多くの方が来場されます。
また通訳ボランティアも会場に待機していますので、外国人の方でも安心して楽しめます。
今年は、３つの体験に挑戦しました。
・硯（すずり）磨き
・しじみの値付け作り
・鼈甲（べっこう）アクセサリ作り
ちなみに一昨年に体験したのは、以下の通りです。
・七宝焼き
・伊万里焼の絵付け
・螺鈿（らでん）貼り
世界遺産である日本料理も、もちろん日本の伝統工芸です。
日本の伝統工芸の多くは、美しく繊細で可愛いものが多いです。
そのカワイイを支えているのは、職人の努力です。
手を切ってしまったり、火傷をしたりしながら体得してきた技です。
10月には新宿でも、職人のイベントが開催されます。
小規模なイベントではありますが、そちらでも様々な職人技の体験が可能です。
